SMA UK’s client, Aniron Renewables, has a key partnership with Iron Mountain, a global industry leader in storage and information management services and therefore have stringent policies and requirements for their very data sensitive locations. With two sites already completed and commissioned and featuring SMA inverters.

The first photovoltaïc installation, at their Birmingham Document Storage facility was connected to the National Grid in August 2019. This is an east west array with an annual yield of 802kWh/kWp. With the additional hurdle at this site of the grid operator has a maximum export capacity they would allow on the AC side but in using SMA inverters which easily facilitate up to 150% DC oversizing, furthermore oversizing helps to control costs as well as meeting the grid connection requirements.

The second Iron Mountain solar installation was completed in March 2020 at their Livingston site in Scotland. A 255kW system with an estimated annual energy yield of 800kWh/kWp. Across the two sites there will be almost 500 tonnes of carbon savings annually.
